About Reid Compton | Reid Compton Multimedia

I've drifted between creative passions all my life. When I was in the second grade, I wanted to be a saxophone player. At other points in my life I've loved to draw, compose music, and play basketball. There was even a time I wanted to be a professional pogo jumper. Thankfully, that one was short lived.

When I first picked up a camera though, I knew that I had found something worthwhile.

I've always preferred to photograph people candidly. I like the nuances of a smile when you think no one is looking. I think that's what first drew me to journalism. Well, that and I used to be terrified to ask people if I could take their picture. The terror of talking to people faded, but I still believe that people look their best when they are unaware. Even if you just forget about me for a split second.

My images have been published nationally in Sports Illustrated, ESPN.com, SI.com, Lindy’s College Football Magazine, Today's Breeder magazine, the Tallahassee Democrat, Florida Today, The Independent Florida Alligator and the FSView & Florida Flambeau; and internationally in Federación Española de Baloncesto and Hoops China.

I am currently located in Chicago, IL, after graduating with a B.A. in Graphic Design from Florida State University. It was at FSU that I found my true love of telling stories. Through my work with the FSView, I was able to grow immensely in photography, documentary filmmaking, and web design.

But hey, don't take my word for it. Check out my work and then give me a call, let's grab lunch.
