About Reid Compton

My passion for photography started about 5 years ago with a desire to capture the nature and beaches around my home in Clearwater. I also shot sports photos early on for the local high school football team. I was first trained on film, but switched to digital shortly thereafter and have never looked back. Soon after leaving for college, I became interested in journalism via my involvement with the school paper, the ‘FSView and Florida Flambeau.’ I also became very interested in wedding photography and portraiture as well, and went about learning the business firsthand by working with local photographers. The next year, I started working for Tallahassee’s community newspaper, the ‘Tallahassee Democrat’, and began freelancing for Icon Sports Media, covering all FSU athletics. Through Icon Sports Media, my images have been picked up and run nationally on ESPN.com, SI.com, Lindy’s College Football Magazine, and others; and internationally in Federación Española de Baloncesto. I hold all of my images to the same high quality as these publications, whether journalism, sports, nature, weddings or portraiture.

My interest in design came during my second year of college, when I realized that the landscape of photography was changing, and proficiency in many design applications would be a must. I began taking classes focusing on Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Flash.

I originally became interested in web development in order to create a website for my photography business, but through the course of school and an ever pressing desire to make my site better, it not only sparked a passion I didn’t know I had, but has become an integral part of my business.

Now, entering my fourth and final year of college at Florida State, I am working full time as a photographer and designer, with photographic clients ranging from brides to magazines, and a blossoming web design firm in the making.

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my site, and I hope to soon
